Memorial Go-Kart (MGK) Racing Season
When
MGK hosts team go-kart racing on select Wednesday nights throughout the summer, generally from June through August. All races take place on the infield at Slinger Super Speedway.
Time
- Pit Gates open at 5:00 PM
- General Free admission opens at 5:50 PM
- Opening Ceremonies and Racing begin at 6:30 PM
- Events end around 9:00 PM
Racing starts with shorter Heat Races featuring fewer karts. The finishing order of these Heat Races determines the starting lineup for the longer Feature Race, which follows. Each racer typically competes in two races per event.
Karts
Racers cannot bring their own go-karts. MGK provides standardized go-karts, each equipped with a roll cage, race seat, and a 6.5 hp MGK-supplied engine. All karts have equal performance. Karts can be purchased from Memorial Go-Kart Inc. or acquired from an existing team.
Age & Joining
MGK teams are for youth aged 7 to 18, divided into 7 color-coded divisions based on age and skill. Some karts are business-owned; others are privately owned. Racers usually join by signing up on the waiting list during winter, with registration held in spring.
Cost
Admission to watch from the grandstands is free during regular season races. A pit pass, required for entry into the pit area or to race, costs $15. The only other requirement is completing volunteer hours at fundraisers, help running the race, and other positions are available.
Food
Carry-in food and drinks are allowed. Concessions are also available in the pit area near Turn 4.
